Fact: You will never build a body that you are proud of until you gain control over your diet.
This was a tough pill for me to swallow during my first few years of lifting weights. I would bust my ass in the gym several days a week, but I loved to eat lots of tasty food all the time.
At one point, I couldn’t even go to bed at night until I had consumed 4-5 fresh baked cookies with a huge glass of milk.
Damn you Tollhouse!
It also didn’t help that I was brainwashed by all the fitness “gurus” on the internet who tell you to force feed yourself 5,000 calories a day to bulk up and get swole.
I always thought to myself;
It’s no big deal, I’m just feeding my muscles the extra calories they need so I can be big and strong.
Well, I did get bigger and stronger, however, when my shirt came off I looked like an average fat guy.
How to Eat Anything You Want and Still Get Ripped
I know, the headline above sounds crazy, but it’s possible as long as you measure your food portions accurately.
In fact, trying to follow a normal bodybuilding diet of chicken and rice 24/7 is a sure fire way to guarantee failure.
Instead of putting yourself through the daily torture of eating bland foods, simply invest in a food scale!
Food scales allow you to get an accurate measurement of how much food (calories) you are shoveling into your mouth, which is super important to know if you want to get shredded.
Everything is Measured in Grams And Ounces
If you look at the nutrition labels on all of the foods in your pantry, you’ll notice they all have one thing in common.
They all have serving sizes measured in grams and ounces.
This means that you’re screwed if you don’t have a way to measure those units each time you eat!
If you are going to play the game of eating foods that taste good while still having an amazing physique, you must to stop being lazy and portion out your food.
When you finally do this, the whole dieting thing becomes way easier than you would ever expect.
Actually, fuck the word diet. I hate that word. It sounds like something your fat coworkers are always trying to do but always fail at miserably. I prefer the word lifestyle…
Stop thinking that building a body and counting calories is just a phase that you’ll go through.
Instead, make it something that you can easily do throughout your life.
When you shift your mindset to the lifestyle mentality, everything becomes easier.
But Nick, Measuring Servings Takes to Long!
Nope, it really doesn’t. As a matter of fact, as I write this post I am starting to get a craving for some peanuts. I think I’ll go measure out one serving size right now and see how long it takes.
See ya in a few!
Okay, I’m Back.
As you can see below, it took me a whopping 42 seconds to measure a single serving of 28 grams of peanuts.
All I did was get the peanuts, turn on the scale, place the peanut jar lid on the scale, press the tare button, and pour the peanuts on the lid until it said 28g.
I now have a tasty high protein snack that I actually enjoy eating.
And the best part is that I know exactly how many calories I got from it!
Once you have the scale on and everything ready to go, you can easily repeat this process with all the foods you are about to eat in about 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Is taking that extra minute or two a high price to pay for a great physique?
Figure it out for yourself.
