Becoming an entrepreneur is one of the best choices that you can make for yourself.
When done correctly, entrepreneurship will let you do what you love, bring value to other people’s lives, and earn an unlimited amount of money,
Sound too good to be true?
Well, it’s not!
In fact, entrepreneurship is the only path to freedom for average folk like you and me who weren’t natural born athletes or entertainers.
It’s the only way out of a debt-filled lifestyle that forces you to live paycheck to paycheck and constantly stress about money.
Just in case you aren’t quite following what I’m saying, let me spell it out for you…
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR YOURSELF YOU MUST BECOME A SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR.
Entrepreneurship Done The Wrong Way
Just like anything else in life, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about pursuing the entrepreneurship lifestyle.
In fact, one wrong decision could totally derail you financially and put you in a much worse situation than you are currently in now.
How do I know this?
Because I did it the wrong way for a long time!
I made many mistakes and went thousands of dollars into debt before I realized the error of my ways and turned everything around. And believe me, I don’t want that to happen to any of you.
With that said, let’s briefly discuss the wrong ways of pursuing the entrepreneurship lifestyle so that you know exactly what NOT to do.
Entrepreneurial Mistake #1 – Creating A Job For Yourself
The most common mistake that is made by wannabe entrepreneurs is starting a business that is really just another job.
This is most often done by people who start brick and mortar businesses such as coffee shops, clothing stores, and general freelance businesses.
I mean sure, you’ll technically be working for yourself, but in reality, you’ll still be trading all of your valuable time away for money.
You see, a true business is something that pays you continuously whether you work or not.
When you decide to start your own company but continue to trade all of your time for money, you’re defeating the whole purpose of becoming an entrepreneur.
So, don’t leave your job just to create another job for yourself.
Instead, create a money making business that pays you 24/7 whether you work or not (we’ll get into that business model in just a little bit).
Entrepreneurial Mistake #2 – Starting A Business With Somebody Else’s Money
This was one of the biggest mistakes that I ever made as a brand new broke entrepreneur.
I thought that since I had a great idea and lots of ambition that starting my first business by maxing out a few credit cards was a great idea.
Well, long story short, it ended up being a terrible idea! And in the end, it got me absolutely nowhere!
What I should have done was use my own money to start my business and skipped the credit card debt altogether.
But Nick, how do you get money to start a business if you aren’t going to use a credit card or take out a loan?
The answer to that is simple my friend. You keep working your 9-5 job while cutting out all other unnecessary expenses and use that money to fund your business.
But Nick, you said that jobs were for losers!
Yes, I did and I still do believe that jobs are for losers! But you aren’t a loser if you are using your 9-5 paycheck to build a business. In that case, you’re a winner.
So, now that you know what NOT to do when starting your own business, we’re going to talk about the best business model in the world…
The Content Creation Business Model
So, what exactly is a content creation business?
It’s exactly what it sounds like. You create great educational/entertaining content on topics that you know about and help others improve their lives with your knowledge and unique perspective.
Why is it the best business model for broke entrepreneurs?
Low Start-Up Costs
Creating content costs almost nothing.
If you do it the right way, you’ll spend money on website hosting ($10 a month) a domain name ($15 a year) and a professional theme (one time cost of about $50)
What other potentially highly profitable business can you build for under $200 a year?
Being a content creator will allow you to work from anywhere in the world. As long as you have an internet connection and a laptop (or even just a smartphone) you’ll be good to go!
Unlimited Earning Potential
When you work a normal 9-5 job, the company that you generate millions for ends up keeping most of the fruits of your labor. Instead of paying you handsomely, the company gives you a small handout called a paycheck and then big daddy government takes a third of it.
On the other hand, owning your own business allows you to charge what you want for your work and keep all of the fruits of your labor.
Translation – If you successfully create a business for yourself, you’ll be making more money than you’ll know what to do with.
Do The Work Once And Get Paid Forever
When you create awesome timeless content on evergreen topics (health, wealth, and relationships) people will find your work year after year and pay you for it.
In other words, you only have to create a great piece of work once to get an endless amount of return on investment.
Don’t believe me?
Go ahead and Google a question about a topic that you want to know more about.
Chances are high that the search results will bring you to someone’s blog who has the answer to your question.
Chances are also high that that person has products they sell on their blog relating to the topic that you’re searching for and if their free content was good enough, you’ll probably end up buying the paid product to learn more.
The kicker is that most of the time they’ve written that e-book or course that you’re buying 5 plus years ago, yet they are still making money on it today.
Pretty cool huh?
How should I Create my content?
The 3 main ways that people create content are through writing (blogs), video (youtube), and audio (podcasts). All of those mediums have there own set of pros and cons but one thing is for certain.
YOU MUST OWN ALL OF YOUR OWN CONTENT ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE!
In fact, the number one mistake that most content creators make is that they create all of their precious original content on a built-in platform such as Youtube.
You see, when you choose to make a platform the main focus of your business, things usually start out all fine and dandy, until you create a piece of content that the platform moderators don’t like. Once you do something like that, the worst possible thing could happen… you get banned! And all of your precious content is gone forever.
YES! THAT REALLY DOES HAPPEN!
Back in the day, I used to follow multiple YouTubers who created amazing content that both entertained and informed me about the topics I love. However, most of them eventually went away once YouTube decided to change most of their monetization policies.
Many of my favorite content creators lost everything they had worked so hard to build and had to return to the broke as a joke 9-5 lifestyle.
SAD BUT TRUE!
You must protect yourself and only use outside platforms such as Youtube and podcast networks as secondary tools. The meat of your content should always be on your own self-hosted website that nobody can fuck with.
Why I Chose To Blog
When I was deciding on what type of medium I wanted to use for my content creation business, I ultimately decided to blog.
While I do upload Youtube videos from time to time, my main focus will always be creating content for my own self hosted website. By doing that I truly own all of my precious work and nobody can ever take it away from me.
Does that mean that I’ll only write blog articles for the rest of my life?
To be honest, I hate writing and the whole writing process. Creating a readable entertaining article that people will actually click on is HARD.
Eventually, I will branch out into other mediums so that I can be found by more people and spread my message further, but that will only happen after I have a few hundred posts published here on Success And Strength Dot Com.
REMEMBER, YOUR OWN SELF HOSTED WEBSITE SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE MAIN ANCHOR OF YOUR BUSINESS.
You’ll Have No Competiton
Wanna know the best-kept secret of all?
When it comes to the content creation business model you’ll have virtually no competition. As long as you stick with it long enough, success is all but guaranteed!
Because it takes time to build a following and most people don’t want to stick around long enough to do so.
See, I’ve been running this website for over a year now and guess what? I didn’t have any actual daily traffic until a couple of months ago.
Yup, that’s right, I had to work for a whole entire year before anyone appreciated my efforts. And for most people that is too much of a tough pill to swallow.
In fact, 99% of the people who start a content creation business end up quitting within a month or two because they lose confidence and motivation.
The cream always rises to the top and you’ll be at the top as long as you go into this business with the right attitude and never give up.
How Can I Start My Content Creation Business?
Select a website host (affiliate link), register a domain name, download WordPress, and get to work!
It really is that simple.
Don’t over think it and don’t worry about being perfect and looking professional from the get-go. Just take massive action and learn as you go!

P.S. – You can also check out SquareSpace if you want another less complicated platform to build your website on. I’ve recently been flirting with the idea of switching to SquareSpace just to give it a try. Check out this video for more information on WordPress vs. SquareSpace.
How Long Until I See Results?
First of all, that is a stupid question that people who will end up quitting often ask. Once your content creation skills get good enough (often after many months of consistent work) people will begin to find and appreciate your work.
However, with that being said, there are a few things that you can do to get some exposure and followers sooner rather than later.
Checklist For Getting Your First Followers
1) Create an email list so people can subscribe to your content
2) Create your first 20 pieces of content
3) Pick one social media platform and cross-post your content on that platform.
4) Visit other content creator websites who create content about the same topics as you and make friends. Leave comments, send emails, get to know people.
5) Engage in forums such as Reddit. Pick threads that discuss topics that you write about and offer free advice to others.
If you follow the above checklist exactly as it’s laid out, I guarantee that you’ll get your first couple of followers within a few months. That is, of course, assuming that your content is actually useful.
Entrepreneurship Can Change Your Life
As I said before, entrepreneurship has the power to change your life for the better and for average people like me and you, it’s often our only option if we want to live the good life.
If you want to be free to come and go as you please and do what you want with your time, you must start a successful business that pays you 24/7 so that you can separate your time from making money.
You must do the work first!
You’ll often have to spend 2-5 years building the foundations of your business before things really start to take off.
THAT IS NORMAL AND YOU SHOULD EXPECT IT TO TAKE CLOSER TO THE 5 YEAR MARK.
Massive success and a lifestyle full of freedom aren’t created overnight and overnight success stories don’t actually exist.
