Tracking your lifts in the gym is just as important as brushing your teeth in the morning.
As a natural bodybuilder, the ultimate goal of your workouts should ALWAYS be to lift more weight than your last workout.
Convenience Is Key
Most internet fitness personalities will tell you that carrying a physical workout journal is the best way to track your progress in the gym.
While that’s not a bad idea, there is actually a much easier way to keep track your training sessions.
And guess what?
The solution has been sitting in the palm of your hand 24/7 without you even realizing it.
Using Your Smartphone
Now, I’m not talking about downloading some bullshit app.
Those often cost money and make everything way more complicated than it needs to be.
I don’t know about you, but I like to keep everything in my life as simple as possible.
And Fitness apps that have a million and one settings just don’t get the job done.
As it turns out, the best way to track your lifts is by using your smartphone and its built-in notes app.
This keeps everything cut and dry and easy to read.
Hell, you can even use some emojis if you want to get fancy.
Below is a screenshot that shows you exactly how I track my training progress with my notes app.
I just name the lift, put the weight and reps next to each other, and use easy to understand emojis to let myself know whether or not I hit all my numbers at that given weight.
Green check marks are good and red x’s are bad. Easy peasy!
